My HP Smart app stopped opening, I have uninstalled and reinstalled the app and reinstalled the printer drivers; issue remains unresolved.

If the HP Smart app is not opening on your Windows 11 computer despite reinstalling it and the printer drivers, here are several troubleshooting steps you can try to resolve the issue:

 

1. Check for Windows Updates:

  • Ensure your Windows 11 is up to date, as updates can resolve compatibility issues.
  • Steps:
    1. Go to Settings > Windows Update.
    2. Click on Check for updates and install any available updates.

2. Run HP Smart App as Administrator:

  • Sometimes, running the app with elevated permissions can resolve issues.
  • Steps:
    1. Right-click on the HP Smart app icon.
    2. Select Run as administrator.

3. Check for Conflicting Applications:

  • Some applications can conflict with the HP Smart app.
  • Steps:
    1. Temporarily disable or uninstall any third-party security software.
    2. Close other applications that might interfere with the app, such as other printer management software.

4. Reset the HP Smart App:

  • Resetting the app can sometimes resolve issues.
  • Steps:
    1. Go to Settings > Apps > Apps & features.
    2. Find HP Smart in the list, click on it, and select Advanced options.
    3. Scroll down and click on Reset.

Please find the next steps below. 

 

5. Reinstall the HP Smart App Correctly:

  • Make sure to remove all traces of the app before reinstalling.
  • Steps:
    1. Uninstall the HP Smart app from Settings > Apps > Apps & features.
    2. Check for any leftover folders in C:\Program Files\WindowsApps or C:\Program Files (x86) and delete them if found.
    3. Restart your computer.
    4. Download the latest version of the HP Smart app from the Microsoft Store and install it.

6. Run Windows Troubleshooter:

  • The built-in troubleshooter can help identify and fix issues.
  • Steps:
    1. Go to Settings > System > Troubleshoot > Other troubleshooters.
    2. Run the Program Compatibility Troubleshooter for HP Smart.

7. Check Event Viewer for Errors:

  • If the app still doesn't open, check the Event Viewer for any error messages related to the HP Smart app.
  • Steps:
    1. Press Windows + R, type eventvwr, and hit Enter.
    2. In Event Viewer, check under Windows Logs > Application for any errors related to HP Smart.

8. Reinstall Printer Drivers:

  • Ensure that the printer drivers are correctly installed.
  • Steps:
    1. Open Device Manager by right-clicking on the Start menu and selecting it.
    2. Expand Printers, right-click on your HP OfficeJet Pro 8025e, and select Uninstall device.
    3. Restart your computer and reinstall the latest drivers from the HP Support website.

By following these steps, you should be able to resolve the issue with the HP Smart app on your Windows 11 computer.

Followed the recommended steps, app still does not open; however, error 1001 is in the events log. Will reach out to HP Phone support.

nothing works, i have removed everything from my computer and tried to re add smart and it does nothing this is an HP error as it is happening to a lot people

Can you please help me?  I tried using HP help line and my HP Smart app is not working.  I was told there is an issue with MS Windows 11.  IT sounds to me that there is indeed an issue with HP Smart.  Please help me, this is very frusttrating and i have spent a lot of time trying to figure this out.

I had the same problem for about a year on a Spectre 360, then last week it started working again with HP Smart version 156.1.1125.0 App ID: DAF3DEC4-A, after installing the Windows 11 update 2024-11 Cumulative Update for .NET Framework 3.5 and 4.8.1 for Windows 11, version 23H2 for x64 (KB5045935)

Per the advice offered, I checked Windows (11) Update. There were 2 identical updates from HP listed but they failed..
