Thanks, I have downloaded the installation package and attempted install.

As a check before installation, I tried printing from my Android phone to the printer. The printer was ready and connected to wifi, and I successfully printed a document from my phone. I also printed off a Network Configuration Report and a Wireless Test Report.

On running HP Easy Smart I was told 'Printer Not Found. Search by IP or select printer type'. I searched for the Printer IP address in the IP address search box and the printer was found. On selecting 'Continue' I was asked for the printer PIN which I entered.

After a wait I was asked to accept the T&C for connected services. Then asked to create a HP Account or to sign in.

When selecting 'Sign in', a browser window opened titled authz.wpp.api.hp.com_/openid/v1/authorize. This screen stayed completely blank, even after a couple of minutes. Same happened after I closed it and tried to access my HP account again from HP Easy Smart.

Selecting 'Skip account activation' I was asked to enter my Printer PIN again. Then asked to decide if I wanted auto updates to the printer or not. I was then asked to select the software, as HP Smart was recommended and I have it installed already, I selected this and HP Smart opened.

Apparently the installation was completed...

I tried to print a page from Chrome but this failed with an error message 'Unable to Print. Check Your Connection'

I selected 'Print Documents'  in HP Smart but the app informed me that the 'selected printer is detected, but not installed completely' (so the same as where I started from and before I posted my ORIGINAL message...); invited me to 'Install Printer'. I selected 'Install Printer'.

(same as before) the app reported 'There was a problem during installation' and asked me to manually install the printer driver via Printers and Scanners.

In Windows settings I selected 'Add device' but (as before) my printer didn't appear. Even after 'Refresh'.

Tried to 'Add manually' and using the IP address. Was told that this was successful.

Trying a Test Print in Windows Setting resulted in error message 'Unable to Print. Check Your Connection'.

Trying 'Print Documents'  in HP Smart gives message 'selected printer is detected, but not installed completely'; invites me to 'Install Printer'.

Follow up to my previous Reply.

I've checked to see if the driver completes installation after I restart the laptop, but the situation is the same.

Your suggestion has basically just replicated my original issue.

I am being sent in circles, the problem is not being resolved.

I have now fixed the problem using advice from commenters on the Acer forums.

Uninstalling my third party antivirus software cleared the problem.

Use HP Print and Scan Doctor to fix connectivity and printing issues.

Download HP Print and Scan Doctor.

  • Run HPPSdr.exe from the download location on your computer.
  • Once HP Print and Scan Doctor opens, click Start, and then select your printer.
  • If your printer is not in the list, turn it off and on, and then click Retry.
  • If there is a connection problem, follow the instructions in HP Print and Scan Doctor.
  • If a screen prompts you to turn on printer updates, click Yes.
  • If a screen prompts you to make your printer the default printer, click Yes.
  • Try to print.

Cheers.

Thanks for the suggestion, but I had already tried HP Print and Scan Doctor to solve the problem. It just directs me to install HP Smart, which is already installed.

I ran it again, after your suggestion and it directed me to install HP Smart. I ran through the options to install and re-signed in again.

Printer shows as available but 'not installed', still.
