Hello,
I can no longer print from today. As soon as I start a print job the following message appears "Filter failed". Yesterday everything was still working.
I'm not the only one with this problem. In a forum there a plenty of people with this problem.
Is there anybody who can help?

I'm having the exact same problem. This just started happening yesterday, out of the blue. No macOS updates, no printer driver updates. It just started giving malware messages when printing. If I try to create a new printer, I get messages for other hp files, as well.

Same problem here with same "damage your computer" message targeting Amazon Music app. Trashed HPDM Framework and AM apps. Then, what appeared to be Apple Software Update offered an HP Printer Driver update, which I allowed. Then I read on the Apple site that Apple Software Update no longer sends printer driver updates. (Uh, oh.) When I try to print, I get this error message: One or more components of the HP printing software are corrupted or missing. The print job cannot be completed. To fix this situation, HP recommends reinstalling the print driver software.
I have McAfee Endpoint Security for Mac running now to check for malware.
I enabled hpsmart email-address printing this week and now I'm wondering if that has opened a connection for someone to send malware. Trying to find how to turn that hpsmart feature off.

Wow - I am SOOO glad I found this! I was afraid it was something I did! Same thing - printing suddenly stopped. Interestingly, I can still print from my wife's Mac on 10.15.4 ... but only to the Laser 4050 not the inkjet. Wondering if I should downgrade my OS.

Earlier I got this message "“fax.backend” will damage your computer". Not anymore, but still not printing. On another forum:
https://discussions.apple.com/thread/251949085
the solution was:
"This worked for me to regain printing ability. With a fixed IP address for the printer, I added a "new" printer with that address, using IPP and configuring as a Generic PostScript Printer."
Have not tried it though.

Fascinating. I had just tried this right before your post came in. I used a Gutenberg (sp?) driver and it worked for my Laserjet 4050. Still can't use my Photosmart Premium C309 inkjet for either scanning or printing though.

I am using the phone to print the documents in this situation untill there is a fix to this.
I simple air drop them or what'sapp them to the phone and then connect to printer to do the print job using the same phone.
