Camera app is giving me 0xA00F4244 NoCamerasAreAttached, so I went to Device Manager and checked the driver. It was originally listed under Camera > HP Wide Vision HD Camera and it said the driver was up to date, but I uninstalled it and rebooted my laptop expecting it to reinstall as some of the support pages recommended. It did not reinstall. In fact, there is no longer a "Cameras" option on my Device Manager at all, and show hidden devices isn't bringing me anything that I can identify as one in the other categories. Other things I've done:

- Looked on the HP Drivers and Software for my laptop; the one camera listed seems to be a later camera. The detection tool says I am not missing anything and I'm up to date.
- UEFI does not have a webcam component test option in the menu
- BIOS did not have an integrated device section or anything accessible to me from what I could tell
- There's no way to roll back my system to a week+ ago as there's no restore point
- No camera switch on this model, no keyboard shortcut to disable it, apps are given access in settings

Hi @Yonobay,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

I understand your HP laptop camera driver disappeared after uninstalling it, and the Camera app now shows error 0xA00F4244 (NoCamerasAreAttached). Let’s go through a few steps to check what could be causing this and restore camera detection.

Perform a full power reset
Shut down the laptop and unplug the power adapter.
Press and hold the Power button for 15–20 seconds, then reconnect power and start the system.

Check Device Manager for hardware changes
Open Device Manager and click Action > Scan for hardware changes.
This forces Windows to re-detect any missing internal devices.

Check for the camera under other device categories
In Device Manager, expand Imaging devices, USB controllers, and System devices.
Sometimes the camera appears as an Unknown device or USB composite device instead of under Cameras.

Enable hidden and disabled devices
In Device Manager, select View > Show hidden devices.
If the camera appears dimmed or disabled, right-click it and choose Enable.

Install the camera driver manually
Download the camera driver listed for your exact HP model from HP Drivers & Software.
Right-click the installer and select Run as administrator, even if Windows says the driver is already included.

Use Windows Update for optional drivers
Go to Settings > Windows Update > Advanced options > Optional updates.
Install any driver updates listed, especially camera or system firmware components.

Check camera privacy settings
Go to Settings > Privacy & security > Camera.
Confirm camera access is enabled and allowed for apps and desktop applications.

Test in HP Hardware Diagnostics
Restart the laptop and tap Esc repeatedly, then press F2 for HP Diagnostics.
If the camera is not detected in diagnostics, the system is not seeing the hardware.

Check BIOS defaults
Enter BIOS using Esc > F10.
Select Load Setup Defaults, save changes, and restart the laptop.

Determine hardware vs software cause
If the camera does not appear in Device Manager, Windows Update, BIOS, or HP Diagnostics, the camera is not being detected at the hardware level.
This usually indicates a disconnected camera module or internal hardware failure rather than a driver issue.

I hope this helps.
