HP Laser Jet 1018 put in service in 2008 manufactured 2006. Has been an absolute workhorse. Now I cannot obtain a driver for it to work in Win 11. It was fine in Win 10 64bit HELP! I don't want to trash it...it still works for what I need it for.

Hi @ MarioKitty,
Welcome to The HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
I understand your frustration! Not being able to find a driver for your trusty HP LaserJet 1018 in Windows 11 can be a real pain. But fear not, there are still options to keep your workhorse running! Here are some solutions:
1. Use the built-in Windows driver:
- While HP doesn't offer an official Windows 11 driver, Windows might have a generic driver that works with your printer.
- Connect your HP LaserJet 1018 to your computer via USB.
- Go to Settings > Devices > Printers & scanners.
- Click Add device and wait for Windows to detect your printer.
- If it doesn't automatically install a driver, click "The printer that I want isn't listed".
- Select "Add a printer manually using settings" and choose a generic driver like "HP LaserJet MFP M1136".
- This might not offer all the functionalities, but it should allow basic printing.
2. Use a driver from Windows 10:
- Download the Windows 10 64-bit driver for your HP LaserJet 1018 from HP's website: Software and Drivers for HP LaserJet 1018 Printer
- Right-click on the downloaded file and select "Properties".
- Click on the "Compatibility" tab.
- Check the box "Run this program in compatibility mode for" and select "Windows 10".
- Click "Apply" and "OK".
- Run the installation file and see if it works with Windows 11.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
