HP LaserJet 1018
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hi,

I have an old HP LaserJet 1018, and a new laptop with Windows 10.  When plugging in the printer it is recognised as an unspecified device, not a printer.  All efforts to add it as a printer, or find a driver for it, have failed.  There are various solutions listed on the web, but none have helped so far, mainly it seems because they work from the basis of the printer not listed as a device at all.

Any help gratefully received!

thanks

Nick

Thank you for joining the HP Support Community

I see that HP LaserJet 1018 Printer does not have a driver for Windows 10.

As an alternative, try Installing and Using the Windows Built-in Print Driver.

Click on this link: https://support.hp.com/in-en/document/c01796879 to install the Windows Built-in Print Driver.

Try to print.

Keep me posted, how it goes!

Hi Raj,

Those instructions were among the previous ones I had tried and failed.  Windows just takes me to the screen where I have to select a driver, but there isn't one for this printer.

I also think that part of the issue is that when i plug the printer in, Windows recognises it as a device, but not as a printer.

Any other options I can try?

Thanks

Nick
