HP Deskjet 3755

I've been trying for hours to set up my HP Deskjet 3755 (which I bought second-hand). Since I purchased it from a stranger, I do not have the "custom password" that is required when I try to connect my printer to WiFi. Is there a way to completely reset the printer without a password? I've been searching all over the Internet trying to find a solution. Please help, I'm going crazy over here!

Hi @Natty93,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

I would be happy to help you with your HP DeskJet 3755 Printer. I understand that it is asking for an admin password while set up.

Are you connecting the printer to a 2.4Ghz network or a 5Ghz network?
What device are you using the printer with a Windows computer, Mac, Android, or iPhone?

Meanwhile, try the following:

Restore the default wireless settings on the printer.

On the printer control panel, make sure the wireless light is blinking and the power button light is bright. If the light is not bright, press the power button to wake the printer from sleep mode.

If the wireless light is not blinking, press and hold the Wireless button and the Cancel button at the same time for 3 seconds.

The wireless light blinks. Repeat these steps if the wireless light does not blink.

Immediately continue to the next step to install the software. You have approximately 120 minutes to complete the software setup using the HP auto wireless connect feature.

Update the firmware update: Click here

Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance.

Hi there,

I'm not sure if I'm connecting to a 2.4Ghz network or a 5Ghz network. How do I tell?

Also, I've tried the steps below to "Restore the default wireless settings on the printer" multiple times, but when it gets to the "Configure the printer" stage, a pop-up window appears, saying:

"Sign in to HP Deskjet 3700 series.

A custom password has been set for your printer. Enter the password to access the printer web interface."

I cannot update the firmware either, because the printer won't connect to my laptop without the password...

I feel like I've tried everything and at this point, I'm hoping for a miracle lol.

Hi @Natty93,

Thanks for your reply.

Try the steps below-

Use a direct wireless connection to your printer to access the printer homepage on your computer or mobile device.

Place the printer close to your computer or mobile device.

Turn on the printer, and then make sure ink cartridges are installed and paper is loaded in the tray.

Get the Wi-Fi Direct printer name (Example: DIRECT-72-HP Deskjet 3755) and password.

Printers without a control panel menu: Print an information page. Use a method that matches the control panel buttons on your printer.

Press the Information button .

Press and hold the Wi-Fi Direct button for 3 seconds.

Press the Wireless and Information buttons at the same time.

Press and hold the Resume button or for up to ten seconds or until the report prints.

On your computer or mobile device, open the Wi-Fi or wireless settings to view the list of available wireless networks.

Select your Wi-Fi Direct printer name from the list of networks, and then enter the password to connect to the printer.

In a web browser, type 192.168.223.1 into the address bar, and then press Enter.

Typing the IP address in the internet browser address bar

If a login or certificate window displays, complete the information to finish opening the EWS.

If a website security certificate displays, click Continue to open the printer homepage.

Now, let us run the wireless setup wizard from here-

Go to Network Tab > Select Wireless

Click on Wireless Setup Wizard > Choose the network you'd want to connect to and enter the password.

Once connected, the printer will have solid light near the wireless symbol.

You can now configure the printer with other devices to print/scan.

Oh ya, forgot to mention, disconnect the WiFi-Direct connection and switch the computer/phone to your regular network.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted.

Hi,

I've done all this, but it doesn't provide me the Wi-Fi Direct printer name or password. It says the Wi-Fi Direct is "Disabled".

How do I go about activating it without the password?

Thanks,

Natalie
