Hi @JamesFontenot,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It sounds like you're trying to install your wireless printer using a disc on a new HP desktop but can't locate the disc drive. Many modern desktop computers, including those from HP, may not come with a built-in optical disc drive (CD/DVD drive) due to the increasing use of digital downloads and cloud storage. Here are some steps to help you install your printer without a disc drive:

1. Download Printer Drivers and Software Online

The easiest and most common method to install your wireless printer is to download the necessary drivers and software directly from the HP website. Here’s how to do it:

Visit the HP Support Website:

  • Go to the HP Support page.

Search for Your Printer Model:

  • Enter your printer model number in the search bar (e.g., "HP Envy 6000") and press Enter.

Download Drivers and Software:

  • Navigate to the "Drivers & Software" section.
  • Select your operating system if prompted.
  • Download the recommended driver and software package.

Install the Software:

  • Once downloaded, open the installer file and follow the on-screen instructions to install the printer software on your desktop.

2. Connect Your Printer to Wi-Fi

Prepare the Printer:

  • Ensure your printer is turned on and within range of your Wi-Fi network.

Access Network Setup:

  • On the printer's control panel, navigate to the Network or Wireless settings menu.
  • Select Wireless Setup Wizard.

Select Your Wi-Fi Network:

  • The printer will search for available Wi-Fi networks.
  • Select your Wi-Fi network from the list.

Enter Wi-Fi Credentials:

  • Enter your Wi-Fi network password.

3. Add the Printer to Your Computer

After connecting the printer to your Wi-Fi network, add the printer to your computer:

Open Printer Settings:

  • On your HP desktop, go to Settings > Devices > Printers & scanners.

Add a Printer:

  • Click Add a printer or scanner.
  • Your computer will search for available printers. Select your printer from the list and follow the on-screen instructions to complete the setup.

4. Using a USB Drive (Alternative Method)

If you still have the installation disc and need the files, you can use another computer with a disc drive to copy the contents to a USB drive:

  1. Insert the Installation Disc into a computer with a disc drive.
  2. Copy the Files: Open the disc in File Explorer, select all files, and copy them to a USB drive.
  3. Transfer to New Desktop: Insert the USB drive into your new HP desktop and run the installation files from the USB drive.

5. External USB CD/DVD Drive

If you frequently need to use discs, you might consider purchasing an external USB CD/DVD drive:

  1. Purchase an External Drive: External drives are available from various electronics retailers and are generally inexpensive.
  2. Connect the Drive: Plug the external drive into a USB port on your HP desktop.
  3. Use the Installation Disc: Insert the printer installation disc into the external drive and follow the installation instructions.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
