Hello. I'm looking for the driver to my HP Photosmart C4280 Printer. The HP support page for the C4000 series just offers their diagnostic tool (which led me back to the same page), and tells me to "Installing Your Printer Driver Using the Windows Built-in Solution", which doesn't work. "Windows could not find drivers for your device."

I would like to directly install the driver, but it's not available on the official website.

There's several questions like mine on this forum, but their solutions are not available anymore. Please advise. Thank you very much.

@JadePrinter

Hello,

HP retires drivers and support for products that are 10 years old or more since they were released.

Please use the HP Photosmart C4200 All-in-One Printer series Full Feature Software and Drivers to install your printer.

Concerning HP Solution Center, go to HP Solution Center doesn't open.
For the maintenance of your printer, please use HP Print and Scan Doctor.

  1. Open the HPPSdr.exe.
  2. In the HP Print and Scan Doctor app, click on Start.
  3. Select your printer, then click on Next.
  4. Wait for HP Print and Scan Doctor to load the information from your printer.
  5. Click on the Printer menu, then on Printer Services....

You want to make a shortcut on the Windows desktop of the HP Scan application, do the following:

  1. Please go to the following path:
    • C:\Program Files (x86)\HP\Digital Imaging\bin
  2. Right click on hpiscnapp.exe, and then on Create shortcut.

You may be able to scan using HP Scan Extended!

It will be installed under Start > All Programs > HP:

https://ftp.hp.com/pub/scanners/HPScanExt/HPScanExt.msi

HP Scan and Capture: You can download and Install HP Scan and Capture app from Microsoft store. Here is the link: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/p/hp-scan-and-capture/9wzdncrfhwl0?rtc=1&activetab=pivot:overviewtab

Thank you for the reply Mans.

I'm sorry to bother you, but I installed your file, which opened the installer for "HP- Officejet 6500 E709 series". It isn't my C4200 series printer but installed it anyways. However, I get stuck at the "Connect your device now". I checked the check box to connect my device later, restarted my computer, then tried connecting the printer again, which did not work.

The printer shows up in the Device Manager, albeit with an error due to it being driverless.
