Operating System: macOS 10.15 Catalina

I've uninstalled the old drivers and installed the new ones.  I now cannot get the printer to print anything.  I freezes with the message in the printer window "waiting for printer to become available.  I've tried the recommended approaches on the HP trouble shooting site and none of that helps.  I've also spent a couple of hours with Apple Tech Support and nothing we tried worked.  They say the problem is in the new HP software.  I haven't been able to email HP Tech Support to ask for their help.  Anyone out there have this problem and found a solution.  HP Tech Support is basically non existent for problems like this.

Do you have an anti-virus program installed on the MAC?

You may check this in System Information > Applications. If yes, disable the same and try printing to check if that helps.

 

Let us try these steps to resolve this issue:

 

Update the printer firmware

Click here to download and install the latest printer firmware from your MAC.

Click here to know different methods of updating printer firmware.

 

Also, check for any software updates on MAC

Click the Apple icon > About This Mac > Software Update and install any available update.

 

How is the printer connected to the MAC? Check the connectivity between the devices.

 

If wireless, perform a ping test to check the connectivity

  1. Obtain the IP address of the printer by clicking on the Wireless icon on the printer
  2. On the MAC Go to Spotlight > search for Network utility > select Ping tab > enter the IP address of the printer in the box
  3. Check the second box that says Send only > 10 pings
  4. Click on ping > Check the results at the end if any packets are lost
  5. Note: There should be 0% packet loss, share the results in your next post.
