Hi @karnbach,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
If you're unable to print in color after installing the HP Smart Tank 6000 series printer on your Mac, there are a few troubleshooting steps you can take to resolve the issue. Here's a step-by-step guide.
Check Ink Levels:
- Open the HP Smart app on your Mac.
- Look for an option that allows you to check ink levels.
- Ensure that the color ink cartridges have sufficient ink.
Print Settings:
- When you go to print a document, make sure that you have selected color printing in the print settings.
- Open the document you want to print.
- Click on "File" and then "Print."
- In the print dialog box, check for a setting that allows you to choose between color and black and white printing. Make sure "Color" is selected.
Printer Preferences:
- Open the HP Smart app on your Mac.
- Find the printer preferences or settings.
- Look for any options related to color printing and make sure it's set to color.
Driver Update:
- Ensure that you have the latest driver installed for your HP Smart Tank 6000 series printer. Visit the HP support website and download the latest driver for your printer model.
Reinstall Printer:
- If the issue persists, try uninstalling and reinstalling the printer.
- Open "System Preferences" on your Mac.
- Go to "Printers & Scanners."
- Select your HP printer and click the '-' button to remove it.
- Restart your Mac.
- Add the printer again by clicking the '+' button and selecting your HP printer.
Check for Software Updates:
- Make sure your Mac's operating system and the HP Smart app are up to date. Check for any available software updates.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
