Color LaserJet Enterprise M855

Good afternoon, seeking help with a company printer (HP Color LaserJet Enterprise M855).

I'm trying to finish installing the printer OS onto a newly formatted hard drive after replacing the component that came with the printer (ran into an issue with the old drive). In order to go any further in the pre-boot menu, I have to sign in using an admin password.

I tried using the default "12345678" and I read somewhere that a pin could be somewhere near the ink. None of these options worked. I'm concerned that someone previously had altered the password, but I am not quite sure.

Are there any other options for me to pursue? Is there an alternative way to reset the password?

The pin number only applies to consumer grade products. Enterprise products like the 855 do not have a default. The challenge is that if someone has set a password on the preboot menu, you will need that password and there is no way around that. I am assuming that when you go to admin it is asking you to log in? Or are you selecting the login option in the preboot? Unless someone set a preboot password you just touch the administrator option and you should be able to initialize the drive.

Thanks for the response.

And you are correct, as soon as I try to go to admin, it requires a password.

The individual who would have first booted the machine several years back no longer works here (doubt he would remember the password either).

And just for confirmation, there is no other action I can take (besides finding the correct password)? I read somewhere that possibly replacing the formatter board could work, but I figured that wouldn't work either.
