Hello @020258, Welcome to the HP Support Community.
Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding the HP Envy 7640 printer.
We appreciate the opportunity to assist you and are glad we could help work toward a resolution. We hope our support has been valuable.
Your printer is defaulting to double‑sided because the print driver settings are set to “Print on Both Sides” / “Two‑sided (Duplex)”. Change the driver default to one‑sided and it will stop reverting.
Step 1 – Open Printer Properties
- On your computer, open any document.
- Click File, then Print.
- Select your HP ENVY 7640 from the printer list.
- Click Printer Properties, Preferences, or Printer Setup (wording may vary, but it’s the same window used in the steps below).
Step 2 – Turn Off Two‑Sided Printing
Use whichever tab you see:
If you see a Printing Shortcut tab
- Click Printing Shortcut.
- Find the Print on Both Sides / Two‑sided (Duplex) Printing option.
- From the Print on Both Sides drop‑down, select None (or uncheck any “Print on Both Sides” option).
- Click OK to save.
If there is no Printing Shortcut tab
- Click the Layout, Features, or Finishing tab.
- Locate Print on Both Sides or Print on Both Sides Manually.
- Clear the checkbox (turn it off).
- Click OK to save.
These changes set future print jobs to one‑sided, so the printer will no longer default back to 2‑sided.
