According to HP advertising, certain printers come with a 2 year warranty.  However once they are registered on-line following HP instructions the warranty is less than a year.  I spoke with HP several times on the phone and the say the warranty starts on day of manufacture and is only a year even though they are advertised in retail stores as well as on HP.com as having a two year warranty.

I would hate to find out after a year or so that if the printer broke, the HP warranty has expired.

I cannot comment on the 2 year warranty, but can tell you that printer warranty is 1 year from DATE of Purchase. It may show less as the printer is added to HP'S database when the printer is built and has one year from that point. Once a product is sold and registered the expiry dates are adjusted to reflect a year from purchase date.
