HP ENVY 17.3 inch Laptop PC 17-ch0000 (23S97AV)
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Greetings.

I am running Windows 10 (fully up to date) wirelessly connected to a Photosmart 6520 printer.

Problems with HP Print and Scan Doctor. Was running 5.6.3 without any problems, until, prompted at startup of Psdr to upgrade. Did that, but...nothing. UAC asks me for permissions and...that;s it. Nothing else. Downloaded latest version of PSDR from the HP-website, tried again...same thing: nothing.

Tried to solve the problem by opening the file location pointed to by the icon, and removing the PSDR directory. Tried a re-install, but same thing. Found a description of this on Internet.

I discovered that my Registry still points at a HP PSDR 5.3.6.007, but this app does not appear in my Windows' list of Installed programs.

So [1] how do I remove the old Print and Scan Doctor completely, because I assume that.s what causing the problem. [2] why does this app not appear in the list of installed programs? A botched 5.4-install?

Thx.

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

I'd be happy to help.

Let's try to do a root uninstall and reinstall of the software:

Unplug any USB cable, if any, before doing this.

1.) In Windows, search for and open Programs and features

2.) Select your HP Printer

3.) Select Uninstall

4.) In Windows, search for and open Devices and printers

5.) In the Devices and Printers windows look for your HP printer. If you see it listed right-click on it and choose 'Delete' or 'Remove Device'

6.) Open up the run command with the "Windows key + R" key combo.

7.) Type printui.exe /s and click Ok. (Note: there is a space in between “printui.exe” and “/s”)

8.) Click on the "Drivers" tab

9.) Look for HP Printer driver. If you see it Click on it and click Remove at the bottom

10.) Select Ok

11.) Select Apply and Ok on the Print Server Properties windows

12.) Close Devices and Printers

13.) Open up the run command with the "Windows key + R" key combo

14.) Type c:/programdata and click Ok. Go to Hewlett Packard folder, remove any printer related folders & files.

15.) Restart the computer.

Once done, please download and install the software from here:

Let me know if this helps.
