Hi @Hankster5,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If your HP printer is not printing color despite having fresh cartridges, there could be several reasons behind this issue. Here's a checklist you can go through to troubleshoot.

  • Check Cartridges: Ensure that you have removed the protective tape or cover from the cartridges before installing them.
  • Printer Settings: Make sure that the printer settings are configured to print in color. Sometimes, printers default to grayscale or black-and-white printing.
  • Printer Software: Ensure that your printer drivers and software are up to date. Sometimes outdated drivers can cause printing issues.
  • Color Settings: Check the color settings in your printing application. Ensure that it's not set to print in grayscale or black and white.
  • Printer Test Page: Print a test page from your printer to see if all colors are printing correctly. Most printers have a built-in function for printing test pages.
  • Clean Print Heads: Use the printer's cleaning utility to clean the print heads. This can help remove any dried ink or debris that might be blocking the nozzles.
  • Alignment: Run a print head alignment process from your printer's settings menu. This ensures that the printer is properly aligned to print in color.
  • Check Ink Levels: Verify that the color cartridges have sufficient ink levels. Sometimes, even though the cartridges are new, they may not have been filled properly or could be defective.
  • Restart Printer: Try restarting your printer. Sometimes, a simple power cycle can resolve printing issues.
  • Check for Firmware Updates: Ensure that your printer's firmware is up to date. HP often releases firmware updates to address various issues.

If none of these steps resolve the issue, there might be a hardware problem with the printer itself.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
