Hi @elbamsc1,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If your HP 6978 printer is not printing blue even after inserting a new cartridge and cleaning the jets several times, here are a few steps you can try to resolve the issue:

Check Cartridge Installation: Make sure the blue ink cartridge is properly installed and that the protective tape on the nozzle has been completely removed. Incorrect installation can prevent the printer from detecting the cartridge.

Clean the Printhead: You've mentioned cleaning the jets, but it might be helpful to perform a deeper cleaning of the printhead. This can be done through the printer's maintenance menu. Look for options like 'Clean Printhead' or 'Deep Cleaning'.

Align the Printhead: Sometimes misalignment can affect print quality and color output. Use the printer's maintenance menu to align the printhead.

Check Ink Levels: Even though the cartridge is new, check the ink levels to ensure the printer is reading the ink levels correctly. Sometimes faulty cartridges can show incorrect ink levels.

Try a Different Cartridge: The new cartridge could be defective. If possible, replace it with another new blue ink cartridge to see if that resolves the issue.

Update Printer Firmware: Check if there are any firmware updates available for your printer model. Updates can resolve hidden bugs and improve the performance of your printer.

Printer Settings: Check the printer settings on your computer. Ensure that it is not set to print in grayscale and that all color options are correctly configured.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
