HP LaserJet Pro P1102 Printer
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I have tried all the suggestions given here but the printer still does not install. I have used the same printer for several years without an issue. I stopped using it for about 5 weeks and after this period the problem has appeared.

Hello,

I am in the same issue with the same printer (HP LaserJet P1102).

I've been using it since years and since a few days the printer does not print anymore.

I tried several times to uninstall/reinstall the drivers. I tried different version of drivers including the most recent found at https://support.hp.com/us-en/drivers/selfservice/hp-laserjet-pro-p1102-printer-series/4110394/model/...

Any drivers version, the installation always ends with the error "Printer installation failed. A new printer was not installed".

I tried with the tool "HP Print and Scan Doctor", version 5.6.6, it finds my printer but it claims it's not installed, and it requests me to download and install the drivers found at https://support.hp.com/us-en/drivers/selfservice/hp-laserjet-pro-p1102-printer-series/4110394/model/..., which I already tried several times with no success as described above.

I tried to manually remove all the content in "C:\Windows\System32\spool\drivers\W32X86" and "C:\Windows\System32\spool\drivers\x64" as suggested here : https://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Printing-Errors-or-Lights-Stuck-Print-Jobs/Printer-only-installing-fax...

I think the problem appeared since the last update Windows 10 of my PC.

My Windows current version is 10.0.19044 (21H2), build 19044.1865.

This printer still works fine with another laptop of mine.

Any help would be very appreciated 🙂

His suggestion to uninstall the Windows update KB5015807 worked for me !

Here is what I did :

  1. list the current Windows KB packages with this Powershell command : Get-Hotfix
  2. Strange thing : in my case the KB5015807 was not present, but I tried anyway to uninstall it.
Done with this Windows command (it's not Powershell) : wusa /uninstall /kb:5015807

You might need to first launch the Windows Command Prompt with admin privileges.
  3. Reboot Windows.
  4. Even more strange in my case : it's only there that the KB5015807 showed up (with the PS command Get-Hotfix), so I executed again the Windows command 'wusa /uninstall /kb:5015807'.
  5. Again, reboot Windows.
  6. Check with the PS command Get-Hotfix, the KB5015807 is no more present, and my problem is solved. The HP drivers installation worked successfully and I could print again, finally !

Yeah so a few days later eventually the buggy KB will be installed again thanks to the automatic Windows Update...

Just repeat the uninstallation as before (by the way you might need to uninstall also the KB5015878 before being able to view and uninstall the KB5015807).

Then you can prevent the KB5015807 to be installed again with this tool "Show or hides updates" : https://social.technet.microsoft.com/wiki/contents/articles/53184.show-or-hide-updates-utility-fixin...
