My printer used to work just fine on Debian 9.9 using CUPS default HP proprietary drivers (I think they may be HPLIP, but I'm not sure). Anyway, today the printer started returning the "Filter failed" error, so I thought I could fix this problem by reinstalling official HPLIP drivers.

After reinstalling the drivers I still got the same error, so I connected the printer to another computer which is running Ubuntu 19.04 over an LXC container (this shouldn't be a problem, LXC USB passthrough used to work just fine everywhere I used it and even in this scenario hp-setup correctly recognized my printer).

After installing the new printer using the CUPS web interface I tried to print a test page, but I still got this "Filter failed" error.

Here the CUPS traceback:

Thanks for your answer,

unfortunately, I don't have any Windows machine which is compatible with Support Assistant and even if I had one, the server which will host the printing service is a Linux machine.

I've found the serial number of the printer:

Hello my error I gave you a page which was to look up the serial number not of product I regret my error. what you gave me was the serial number I recommend that you delete that number and also scratch it on the image because it is something private that you must keep again sorry of the my error, now the product number was CB419A. Now I leave you the all information of the printer https://support.hp.com/gb-en/product/hp-laserjet-1018-printer/1814092/model/1814093?sku=CB419A and the printer manual http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c00585348
