I already have the printer set up on my desktop PC with full function software and this gives icons for Printer Assistant and Scanning with full options
Having installed the same printer and same downloaded software onto my new laptop, the icon for scanning works fine but the icon that should go to Printer assistant, which gives all options, only opens to install another printer etc.
The printer works fine if I use HP Smart or even the scanning icon but I want the Printer assistant to show with all its options.
I have tried a shortcut to Printer assistant from opening the printer in control panel but whilst it brings up printer assistant, it does not contain the scan tab.
I have tried reinstalling the printer which does not change anything.

Great 🙂
Are you able to access the printer assistant?

Hi @Brixhamboy
Welcome to the HP Support Community. I'd be happy to assist you
Due to the current global COVID-19 situation, we're seeing an influx of customers coming in for support. We appreciate your patience.
Let's try and uninstall the printer software from the root level on your PC and install the full feature printer software.
--->In Windows, search for and open Programs and Features.
--->Select your HP printer.
--->Select Uninstall.
--->In Windows, search for and open Devices and Printers.
--->In the Devices and Printers window look for your HP Printer. If you see it listed, right-click on it and choose "Delete" or "Remove Device.”
--->Open up the run command with the "Windows Key + R" key combo.
--->Type printui.exe /s and click OK.
--->Click on the Drivers tab.
--->Look for HP Printer driver. If you see it click on it and click remove at the bottom.
--->Select OK.
--->Select Apply and OK on the Print Server Properties windows.
--->Close Devices and Printers.
And then reinstall the printer full-featured drivers from software and drivers page
Hope this helps! Keep me posted.
