Product: Officejet Pro 6978
Operating System: Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Had a problem with communication between computer(HP Touchsmart 420) and printer. Reinstalled software but lost the short cut for the desktop for scanning. Using Windows 10 Scan app but not as good as HP desktop app. Can not find to put short cut back on the desk top. Any suggestionis appreciated. Thank you.

Have you used the Windows search function to find the application and then create a shortcut. Click on the windows icon on lower left of screen and then start typing HP Scan and it should bring up the program if it reinstalled properly. If not, I would reinstall from either the original disk or from the ful download from support.hp.com
