I see that there is software categorized as, "firmware updater."

I thought that firmware is software the runs on the device itself.  I also noticed that when I connect to the device (using a web browser), there is an option to "check for updates."

I am guessing that the firmware updater is used if you don't have the all in one connected to the internet?

The firmware update is only installed when a certain issue needs to be fixed, you could always open the hp website, click on the details of the firmware for details of what it fixes.

Keep me posted for further assistance.
