macOS 10.12 Sierra

Printer used to go into sleep mode when inactive, but now stays on all the time.  The "eco" settings don't seem to make any difference - the unit won't sleep.  The time-of-day "turn on" and "turn off" settings seem to work, but that's not what I'm after; I just want it to sleep when idle for, say, 15 or 30 minutes.

I have the 576dw, and the exact same problem. I gotta say, when this printer prints, it's a decent little machine....but a tempermental machine, with all it's little nuances and mysterious bugs.

Eventually I had to replace the ink cartridges; in so doing something about the process must have reset the machine - at least reset it enough to go back to normal operation with "sleep" mode - i.e. timing out after five or ten minutes and the display going dark but the blue dot wireless indictor stays on as was previously the case.

This is NOT to say that buying new ink cartridges is a solution - just my experience; you might achieve the same result by removing and reinstalling your existing ink cartridges - just an idea....no guarantees 😞

Hmm interesting. You may be onto something. I do think my printer was flashing low ink levels for Black a couple weeks back. But when flashed low levels, I can usually print another month or so, before changing the inks (I don't print that much anymore). Anyway I'll eventually change it, and will keep an eye on whether it resets the sleep mode. Thanks!
