HELP!  I’m on day 4 of trying to fix this!  I have used my iPhones HotSpot for years to run our internet.   I have used it without issue to print on my Office-jet Pro 8600 for years.  No issue. Until 5 days ago when I received a No Filtering FAIL when I ran the network test results.
The printer finds my phone no issue.  When I enter the password it takes forever and then comes back not found.  Like I said nothing has changed.
Ive reset to factory default - still won’t work.

I’ve changed my password - still won’t work.

I’ve played the “turn it off and on” game - still won’t work.

How do I fix this? And why can’t be contact HP to talk to a real live person to help us?  That virtual assistant did nothing but anger me   I am so frustrated BUT I dont want to buy a new printer when this one is still working (or was) great.
I sell a lot on eBay - I need to print labels!!

Please somebody help me.  Please……

@ScreenName69, Welcome to the HP Support Community! I’m here to help.

I understand you are facing wireless connectivity issues on the printer.

The printer may not work on a hotspot connection. HP recommends connecting the printer to a personal wireless router.

  • Make sure the printer and the iOS device are connected to the same wireless network. Either 2.4 or 5GHz network.
  • If you have a Dual-band router and both 2.4GHz and 5GHz networks share the same name/SSID, the printer will not be able to connect to the network. In this case, contact your Internet service provider to assign different names to both networks.
  • Also, check with your Internet service provider if your router is able to forward 'Bonjour packets'.

Bonjour locates devices such as printers, other computers, and the services that those devices offer on a local network using multicast Domain Name System (mDNS) service records. The software comes built-in with Apple's macOS and iOS operating systems.

  • This printer supports WPA encryption, check if the router is on the same encryption method. If using WEP or WPA-PSK+FT change it to WPA-PSK

If you do not have a wireless router, you may connect the printer using Wifi-Direct

Refer to - HP printer setup (Wi-Fi Direct)

Note: There will be no internet access on the iPhone while using this method.

Hope this helps! Let me know how it goes.

I don’t know if my last comment went thru

i have ALWAYS used my iPhones HOTSPOT to run the printer and never had an issue until several days ago when the no filtering fail happened.   I do NOT have a router.  Never did. Only the hotspot.
so - what causes the no filtering fail to happen?  Nothing has changed on the iPhone or printer - I need to fix this as I have labels to print from eBay sales

thank you

Hotspots do not provide a stable connection. There is no setting on the printer to enable/disable Mac address filtering.

You may have to check the settings on your iPhone or contact the internet service provider or use Wifi-Direct for printing.

These are the only options available.

Keep me posted for any other assistance.

This hotspot is very reliable and has run the printer for years.  It  runs my TV even.  There is absolutely nothing wrong with it - it’s very stable and honestly I never have an issue with it.  That’s why I don’t pay for internet service when I have a hotspot that handles all my needs.

i am not the only person who has had this issue.  It seems this error just pops up randomly - no reason at all.  I also read that this is a “catch all” error code.   Who knows.  I know this - it’s absolutely frustrating.   But…..  I did call my carrier as you suggested and their response was -

“  If your hotspot is working everywhere else (TV, Computer) with NO ISSUE why would HP think it’s a service provider  issue?  What changes would they recommend be made and will that cause the services that now work perfectly using your hotspot stop working?  I’m sorry, this is an HP issue and they need to provide the resolution for you.”

I have to agree with them.  It’s the printer that is NOT working.   It use to.

can anyone resolve rhis?
