HP OfficeJet Pro 8035 All-in-One Printer

I've just about had it with this printer, which works well...when it actually connects. I'm super tired of having connection issues any time I move my laptop to another room in the house. But even when I move it to the same room where we have our modem and router set up, it stops connecting. Now I'm back in another room and it can't find my laptop. HP app alternately showing printer online and offline, can't make up its mind. I've rebooted everything a gamillion times. I'm about to throw the thing out the window. So frustrating and such a useless piece of equipment. P.S., Firmware update didn't install some months ago because of a problem on HP's end (that has been well documented and even ridiculed in the trade mags), had a maddening convo with somebody on the other side of the planet to troubleshoot that and finally ended up disabling automatic updates. What the hell, HP? Can you get it together?

Hi @DebWrites,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

I'd be happy to help you!

Fabulous analysis. Spectacular diagnosis of the issue before posting. Kudos to you for that.

Reset the printer

  1. With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer.
  2. Wait at least 60 seconds.
  3. Reconnect the power cord to the rear of the printer.
  4. Turn ON the printer, if it does not automatically turn on.
  5. Wait until the printer is idle and silent before you proceed.

Note: HP recommends connecting the printer directly to a wall outlet rather than a surge protector or a power strip.

If this does not help, Let's perform a semi-full reset to restore the printer back to its original settings.

The reset instructions are specific to your printer and performing those steps on a different printer may brick the device.

I've sent you a private message with reset instructions, follow the reset instructions to perform a full reset and re-initialize the printer.

In order to access your private messages, click the private message icon on the upper right corner of your HP Community profile, next to your profile Name or simply click on this link.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted.
