HP have locked out my printer just because I cancelled my ink contract. Not a happy.

Welcome to the HP User Community.

 

You should not be "locked out" of the entire printer.

 

That said, the following is true:

 

  • Instant Ink is a Print-by-Page subscription model.  Ink is provided as part of the subscription.

 

  • Instant Ink cartridges remain the property of HP.  This includes those cartridges activated as part of the subscription and any ink sent to you during the subscription.

 

  • After the contract with Instant Ink is terminated, Instant Ink cartridges will lock and cannot be used in any printer.

 

  • All the Instant Ink cartridges must be removed from the printer.  Replace the Instant Ink cartridges with HP genuine ink cartridges that you purchase.

 

  • You can send unused, depleted, or other unusable ink cartridges to HP for free.

 

  • HP will not chase you down if you do not return the Instant Ink cartridges.
