Hi @RonanKil,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

There could be several reasons why HP Smart might be canceling your print job on the HP Officejet Pro 8022e All-In-One Printer. Here are a few potential reasons and troubleshooting steps you can try.

  • Low Ink Levels: Check if any of the ink cartridges are low or empty. If any cartridge is low on ink, the printer might cancel the print job. Replace any depleted cartridges.
  • Paper Jam: Even a small piece of paper jammed in the printer can cause it to cancel print jobs. Open the printer cover and check for any paper jams. Clear any jams carefully.
  • Printer Offline: Ensure that your printer is connected to your network and online. If the printer goes offline, print jobs may be canceled. Check the printer's connection status and try restarting both the printer and your Wi-Fi router.
  • Driver Issues: Outdated or corrupted printer drivers can cause printing problems. Make sure you have the latest drivers installed for your printer model. You can download and install them from the HP website.
  • Print Queue: Sometimes, print jobs get stuck in the print queue, causing subsequent jobs to be canceled. Open the print queue on your computer and clear any pending print jobs. Then try printing again.
  • HP Smart App Settings: Check the settings in the HP Smart app to ensure that there are no settings configured to automatically cancel print jobs under certain conditions.
  • Software Conflict: Occasionally, conflicts with other software installed on your computer can cause printing issues. Try printing from a different device or uninstalling any recently installed software to see if it resolves the problem.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.

HP Smart keeps cancelling all print jobs to my HP 6255 Printer.   I only have a b&w cartridge, so I instruct the interface to print b&w.   It cancels.  So I try using a different destination than HP Smart to print to, in this case that is: HP174834routerlogin.net(HP ENVY 6200 series) and everything works great!  What is wrong with HP Smart?   I ran through the suggested fixes, like checking the printer queue. reinstalling drivers, etc., but I can't overcome the problem.  Is it just that HP Smart is too stupid to compensate for an empty color cartridge?  I haven't had a color cartridge in years, and HP Smart used to cope with that fact.

This seems to be a driver issue, follow these steps to fix the issue.

Perform root-level uninstallation to remove all the printer-related software.

  • In Windows, search for and open Programs and Features.
  • Select your HP printer.
  • Select Uninstall.
  • In Windows, search for and open Devices and Printers.
  • In the Devices and Printers window look for your HP Printer. If you see it listed, right-click on it and choose "Delete" or "Remove Device.”
  • Open up the run command with the "Windows Key + R" key combo.
  • Type printui.exe /s and click OK.
  • Click on Drivers tab.
  • Look for HP Printer driver. If you see it click on it and click Remove at the bottom.
  • Select OK.
  • Remove all instances of the same.
  • Select Apply and OK on the Print Server Properties windows.
  • Close Devices and Printers.
  • Restart the PC again.

Well, I tried to wipe all the driver software off my laptop, as directed by the specialist.  I also reloaded HP Smart from the Microsoft Store.  However, HP Smart is now even more unstable.  Now, when I go to print, HP Smart is no longer a destination option.  So I will not be able to find out if it is able to print a document or not.

Hi @Nick1903 ,

As a last resort, let's perform a semi-full reset to restore the printer back to its original settings and see if that helps.

The reset instructions are specific to your printer and performing those steps on a different printer may brick the device.

I've sent you a private message with reset instructions, follow the reset instructions to perform a full reset and re-initialize the printer.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted.

Dear Elohi_NR,

Thanks for working so diligently to get my Lenovo Laptop to allow HP smart to print documents.  You have recommended wiping my old print drivers, etc., and starting over with new drivers.  I did that once with no luck, so you proposed a more thorough process to clean up the system.   But now, quite by accident, I think I have solved the problem.   I opened up my newly reloaded HP Smart App, and instructed it to print a document.  Immediately, a message appeared saying (and I hope you are sitting down) HP Smart ONLY PRINTS .PDF FILES.  The message recommends you use other resources to print text files, etc.   Who would have thought that HP Smart forgot how to print document files?   Oh well.
