HP Color LaserJet Pro MFP M283fdw
macOS 26.0 Tahoe

Hi!

Until recently I have been able to print from my phone and Macbook Pro.  Has there been new firmware or other changes to the printer?  I am stuck after doing all the virtual assistant recommended troubleshooting.  My printer, two iphones, MacPro and Mini Mac are not communicating with the printer through wireless.

What can I do?

Thanks!

Hi @Hometechy,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

Thank you for the detailed update. Since multiple devices (iPhone, MacBook, Mac Mini) have all stopped communicating at the same time with the HP Color LaserJet Pro MFP M283fdw, this points to a network or connection state issue on the printer, not a sudden firmware failure.

Let’s bring everything back into a clean working state with a few focused steps.

Restart Printer and Network (Full Refresh)

  1. Turn OFF the printer
  2. Unplug the power for 30 seconds
  3. Restart your Wi‑Fi router
  4. Turn the printer ON again

Watch the control panel come back up and settle to Ready before moving forward.

Confirm Printer is Fully Connected to the Network

On the printer screen:

  1. Go to Wireless / Network Settings
  2. Check:
    • Connected to the correct Wi‑Fi network
    • Signal strength is strong

If unsure, reconnect the printer to Wi‑Fi again from the control panel

Use the HP App

Instead of relying on older drivers or direct connections:

  1. Open the HP App on your phone or Mac
  2. Tap Add Printer (+)
  3. Select your M283fdw

You should feel the setup complete quickly and the printer appear as Ready

HP App maintains a direct connection and is the preferred method now, especially on newer macOS versions.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have an amazing day!
