OfficeJet 200 Mobile Printer
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hello HP Support,

I work for a window and door installation company.  Our residential sales reps use OfficeJet 200 Mobile Printers.  These printers work dependably for a while.  However, over time they are rendered inoperable by symptoms that accompany the error code 0X011A17FF.  Right now, I have a stack of four used printers that have been affected by this.

When this error code pops up on a field-used printer after a long period of dependable service, it is rendered inoperable.  The printer will continue to throw this error every time it is booted.  Or else, the printer will soon find itself in a boot loop.  I have followed the instructions of forums on this site and others to try and get the printer behaving properly, including power cycling, pulling the battery and putting it back in, updating firmware, etc.

Following some of these steps will temporarily solve the issue, but this is generally very short lived.  I might not be able to duplicate the issue after the temporary fix, but it comes back a few days later, or even as early as a few jobs later.

In new printers, updating the firmware or rebooting fixes the issue.

Does the error code have a meaning behind it?  If so, what is it?  Is there anything actually wrong with the printer physically that is being detected, or is it a glitch in the software?  Is there some piece of hardware that I can replace in these printers to make this error message go away, or must I buy a new printer every time this issue comes up?

There does not appear to be anything physically wrong with the printer.  If I can get the printer out of this error code, it will print just fine.  The issue persists after using the printer’s manual update option.

Lastly, does the Officejet 250 Mobile printer have any similar issue, so that I could avoid this or any other similar issues by ordering the Officejet 250 Mobile printer instead?  The increased cost of this printer model and the increased size also makes me want to avoid it.

It would be nice if a mechanical, electrical, or software engineer who worked on this printer, or someone with direct knowledge of the printer and how it works could provide some answers.

Thanks much!
