Design Jet 1050C plus
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I have a 1050C plus that was working well with windows 7. I also use it on 10 and it works intermittently. My problem now, is the printer passes self test, says "receiving" for a few seconds then stops and returns to ready. I went to the service tests, during the HDD test, I get "a possible failure on: 1.HDD 2. Electronics module. Code : 00340E: 000002.

The printer will print from the samples in utilites and passes all other tests.

Service test says to remove the EIO and reinstall the HDD (if installed) and re test. I do not have an "additional / external card. Does this mean I need to remove the internal HDD card?

Any help will be greatly appreciated!

This is what I found.

00340E:000002
Failure during HARD DISK initialization
Check cable connections and restart printer.

Now you can run this plotter without the hard disk. You have to remove the hard disk and the control card with the power off. You will also need to make a driver change if you have not already done so. You have to go to the troubleshooting icon and check the box to send the job as a bitmap (process in computer).  The other item you may want to check is the eio network card. If the plotter has a 610N or 615N card there is a good chance the card is bad and needs to be replaced. If you have the 600N or 620N odds are the card is good and does not need to be replaced.
