My Design Jet 110 Plus nr keeps printing alignment pages every time I power it up. I had used the front panel key combinations to print align the printer and now every time it powers up I get an alignment page. Is there a way to stop this from the front panel or from any network utility?

I am running Windows 7-64 Pro and the printer is wired to the network with a dedicated IP

The printer automaticaly perform the printhead alingment

It will make 3 attempts when the calibration fail

Look on the lower right corner, if you have an X that means that the falibration failed. A checkmark means the calibration pass.

Try printing the diagnostic page using the System Maintenance Utility to find out what printhead is not firing ink and replace it.

If you dont have the Utility installed, go to the following link to get it

I hope this helps

I installed the utility, what menu selection is the printer diagnostic page? there is no choice for that. There is a "Get Printer Information" in the advanced, is that it?

It shows I have an expired cartridge, would that be the issue?

an expired ink cartridge could be a problem, but not the first thing to check.

The following link explains how to use the Maintenance Utility.
Go to check image quality. there you will find the option to print the diagnostic page

If the cartridge shows past the expiration date, will the printer alignment always fail?? I have new cartridges on the shelf that may show past the expired date since I have had them in my posession a long time. Will the printer reject these and not align?

The problem persists even thoug it printed a perfect "Image Quality Diagnostic Page"

The ink printings were smooth and the color showed no flaws. The alignment section was also perfect, yet when I try to let it run its alignment for three tries every time it powers up the alignments fail. All my CAD prints are flawless and lines are straight and smooth.

Why it keeps trying to align every time I power it up is beyond me. I do see all my print heads are past the expiration date, do you believe that is the problem? Even though it prints perfectly the printer just wants new cartridges? If this is the case, then it is just HP's way of making you buy new cartridges and heads even though the ones you have are functioning properly. Dirty trick it seems!!

I am not sure if the expired printheads are causing it to want to realign the heads like that.   I am talking about printheads and not ink cartridges.  Typically I see a color missing or small streaks in a color that when the carriage scans them, it picks up that defect and fails the test.  The only choice you have with it not passing that test is to not turn the printer off so it won't keep trying to calibrate.

Expired heads or cartridges will not cause an alignment failure. You say it is perfect but the plotter says it is not. Look at the line that contains the X as that is the color that has failed alignment. If you hit the cancel button after the first alignment starts it will only print part of the first page. If you keep the plotter on all the time it will not run the alignment pages.
