I have a Laser jet 100 color MFP175nw all in one.

What is the meaning of the message "14 no toner cartridge" that appears while the printer is printing? the printer continues to print while the message is displayed. Is there a way I can determine which color cartridge the messag is refering to?

Thanks. Jim B.

Hello JimBir,

You could print a supplies status page and see if that has any information on which toner cartridge that's causing the message. Press the Setup button on the printer, then scroll to Reports and press OK, scroll to Supplies Status and press OK and a page with information should be printed.

You could also try to just remove and reinstall the toner cartridges and see if that clears the error message.

Kind regards,

Pontus.

I used HP toolbox to check the supplies status and that did not help. I'll use your suggestion and generate a status report from the printer control panel and see if I get more info. I've removed and replaced the cartridges a couple of times and that didn't help. If I knew where the status contacts were on the cartridge I would try cleaning them.

Hi JimBir

I understand you are getting the error "14 no toner cartridge" but the printer will still continue to print.

Make sure the printer is plugged directly into wall outlet.

I am including a url to see if you can resolve this issue by starting at  Solution eightSmiley Tonguerint and review a diagnostics page

Please provide the following information so I can assist you better.

Are the toners genuine HP toners?

Is there any lights on the printer indicating which toner is the issue?

Did this happen after changing one of the toners?

I'm using LD Products toner cartridges and have had no problems with them since I started useing them in all my printers starting about 2001.

After my original post, I noticed that my photo printouts were degraded. The colors were not what they should be and they had streaks in them. This forced me to find out what was going wrong since the printer was no help. So, the following ensued:

The diagnostic page shows the alignment to be correct.  Using paint shop pro I generated a page with four color bars running across it. Black, cyan, magenta, and yellow.  When I printed it I saw that the black cartridge was failing to print correctly.  Now, I've been doing a ton of greyscale photo printing and the cartridge was about a year old. A call to LD Products informed that the cartridge was rated for 1200 pages at 5% coverage and the way I was using it would reduce that by as much as a half. Examining the cartridge, I found that the roller that is normally coated with toner, Was nearly bare.  I removed it, shook it vigoursly, reinstalled it, and printed the test page again. The error message went away but the printout was still messed up. I've ordered a new cartridge and, after I install it, I'll  run a new print and le tyou know how it turns out.

Since the cartridge was, for all practical purposes empty, I would have thought the printer would have alerted me to this fact. Every time I printed something, the information window that pops up showed the black cartridge was nearly full.

Hi JimBir

Here is a url on print quality issues for future use.

The printers sensor is probably not registering the non hp toners properly.

Thanks for the advice. I'll check with LD Products about the possible toner cartridge sensor issue and get back to you next week with their answer and a report on the print quality issue I mentioned in my earlier post.

Same problem when I installed ne HP cartridge in a 1536 dnf.   Printer is working fine, but I keep getting error message.  Have removed and re-inserted cartridge, no change.  As long as it's printing fine I'm ok, but a little nervous.

I know it's been a while. I no longer own this printer (went with color laser). As I remember, the new cartridge solved the problem.
