Hi.

I have just tried to connect the printer to my Mac for the first time. When I switch on the printer, an error code "60.02 Error" appears on the printer. I have followed the instruction to switch it off and turn it on again after ensuring the printer is plugged directly into the wall socket. The error keeps reappearing. I've tried the "fix" several times.

Is there a solution or is the machine faulty?

Thanks,

John

I believe that is a tray lift error.

Pull the paper tray out about an inch so the printer doesn't try to lift it and power cycle the machine.

If you have a machine with extra trays you can leave the tray with the problem open and use the rest until it's fixed. You can also use tray 1 while tray 2 is open.

What Stephen is saying is you are getting a tray2 lift error.  There is a mech that lifts the tray bottom so the paper raises to reach the pick roller.  Make sure the back stop of the tray is in the correct position.  If the paper is to far foward and tight it could prevent the tray bottom from lifting.  Also you could remove all the paper and see if you still get the issue.

Hi.  Thank you so much for the idea. The fault was related to the paper tray. I completely removed the paper tray from the printer and peered inside the now-vacant paper tray area inside the printer. There was a piece of paper lodged at the back which was jamming a mechanism (probably the lift mechanism). After removing that bit of paper and restarting the machine, it worked! Very happy and very thankful for your suggestion that helped me to look in the right place. John

Hi.  Thanks for your idea. It was definitely paper tray related. After removing the tray, I found a piece of paper lodged inside the printer that appeared to be blocking the lifting mechanism.  All good now.  Thank you very much for taking the time to help me. I'm really am amazed that there are people like yourself who are happy to help. Best regards, John.

Just for your information the tray you removed was tray 2.  Tray 1 is the manual fold down tray you use for single sheets. Stephen was correct as it being a tray 2 lift error.  Glad you got it solved.

John we do it for the fun of it and an occasional thank you.

I also do it to keep learning, I've been picking up tips from David Zuts for long time, I've been reading and often taking his advice for over 15 years.
