6830 PRINTER

I just received a replacement 6830 printer.  There are two or more problems.  First, it is in 'MFG mode".  Second, it does not print.  When I first installed the new print cartridges which came with it they did not register on the ink level display at all.  after shaking and reinstalling them several times, the display now registers them as full.  However, still no printing although the display preview on the screen shows the document.   When COPY is pressed, the  cartridges go through the motions but nothing prints.  help!!  I am ready to scrap this thing.

Hi @KATHRYN34,

I understand you are having an issue with the printer stuck on the MFG Mode, I'll try my best to help you with this,

I would like to know the following information to assist you better:

  • Did any hardware changes take place on the printer (replacing the cartridges, paper jam, etc.?)
  • Any software updates that happened?
  • The exact printer product model no. This link will help you to find the model no: http://hp.care/2bygf7l
  • What is the operating system you use?

In the meantime, let's try these steps here:

Please make sure that the printer is connected directly to the wall outlet and not to the surge protector

Remove all the ink cartridges and then perform a Hard reset on the printer.

With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer and also unplug the power cord from the wall outlet.

Remove USB cable, if present.

Wait for 2-3 minutes, press and hold the power button on your printer for about 30 seconds to remove any additional charge.

Now plug back the power cable straight to a wall outlet without any surge protector or an extension cord and then plug back the power cord to the printer.

Turn on the printer and wait till warm-up period finishes and the printer is idle.

Now insert the ink cartridges and then try to print a test document and check if it works.

Next thing, I would suggest here is to check for the latest firmware update, if available for your printer, using this link.

If the issue persists, I would suggest the only option would be to perform an advanced reset on the printer.

I am sending you a private message with the steps to reset the printer. Please check the mailbox icon at the top-right corner of this screen.

Let me know how that goes. Good luck!
Cheers 🙂

Thanks for the private reset advice but I am confused about one thing. What do you mean by the BL (bottom left) button??  I tried both the bottom left button on the printer itself (which is the on/off button) as well as the bottom left icon on the face of the printer which the print icon I think. No luck with either.  It may help you to know that when the printer is turned on there is al grid  all across the face (like an excell spread sheet in miniature).  Thanks.
