We bought 951 XL cartridages on amazon for our 8600 pro used them worked great fine. Reorder some and they are showing incompatible. Went to a local office supply and bought them also showing incompatible.
The curious thing... the ones that we originally bought had this z20- Europe Russia Middle East and affrica. The ones that do not work are z10 - usa and Canada only. Help? Where's should I order Russian cartridges from lol?l or what's an option that Can possibly make these USA only ones work? Or?

Thanks for taking an interest in the HP Support Forums! After reading your post I see that you are getting "incompatible ink cartridge" error after updating the printer. I understand that you are using HP 951XL cartridge which is compatible.

Don't worry though as I have a few steps to determine the issue and find a solution as well,

  • Make sure that the cartridges are inserted correctly.
  • Check the carriage latch.
  • Remove and inspect the cartridge.
  • Clean the cartridge contacts.
  • Reset the printer.

Click here to refer the document and perform troubleshooting steps mentioned above to fix this issue.

Let me know how it goes.

I hope it helps and if you feel I have answered your question and concerns,

Please mark this post as a solution accepted and Kudos would also be appreciated.

Cheers.

My printer is is non compatible with USA/ Canada ink. It has to have the ink that is made for Europe Russsia & Africa. We ordered these specifically from HP AND THEY STILL sent sent us USA/Canada only. It's harder to get good foreign ink! Lol

Thanks for the reply.

I appreciate your time and effort.

I request you to contact HP Phone support so that they can exchange the cartridges for you.

Cheers.

[I apologize for stepping into this thread.]

@Sweetlyswint Did you get the issue resolved?  Are you in the US/Canada or elsewhere?

The regionalization for the 950/951 cartridges was a recent change, see the document here for information.  The printer will lock itself to the first regionalized cartridges that are installed.  If you are in the US or Canada but the first cartridges were from zone 20 you will need to Contact HP to request a "Regionalization Reset". There should not be any charge for this, it is covered as part of the cartridge warranty. You will need to have access to your computer and printer while on the line with HP. You will also need to have a set of cartridges for the new region (or the previous before regionalization cartrdiges), once the reset is complete cartridges from the zone 20 region will no longer work.  HP's web page on the subject is here.
