I recently moved and lost the AC adapter for my HP Office Jet Pro 8600 Plus. On the back of the printer where the plug goes in it says
100-240V ~
50/60Hz
1200mA
I know nothing about electronics and just want to buy a new adapter. What do I need or where can I go to get one?
Please Help

What country are you in? The power supply for the Officejet 8600 Plus is built into the printer, you only need a power cord with the proper end (that depends on your country). You can find the HP part numbers here, but the cord is standard and should be available at a local computer store.

I hate to disagree, but I went to staples and looked at the 8600 Plus on display.
It has a Swtec AC adapter which is a model SW0425S120300M2 with
Input 100-240V-50/60Hz 1.0A
Output 12.0V 3.0A
I have no idea what any of this means and can't find this model number anywhwere online.

I would suspect the module you saw was one running an anti-theft device - 12V at 3Amps is not enough to run the 8600. I have an Officejet Pro 8600 Plus here and it uses a standard 2 prong 120V cord that plugs directly into the printer, no external power supply. The receptacle on the back of the printer takes a 2 prong cord that plugs directly into the wall. It is a part number 8120-6313 if you are in the US and it is a standard non-polarized plug with a C7 connector. Here is one on Amazon, or you can find them on eBay or likely at a computer store.
