HP 8600 pro all in one
Mac OS X 10.8 Mountain Lion

The printer see my router, sees the internet name, but says the password is invalid. This network has worked for a long time. Suddenly, it doesn't see it. It DOES see an old network name that is no longer valid, which also happens on my iPad. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Paul

Hi @prjacobs,

Welcome to the HP Support Forums! 🙂 I see you are not able to connect your HP Officejet 8600 to your wireless network. When you attempt to connect to it, it tells you 'password is invalid'. It also is seeing an old network name.

I would first suggest you restore the network defaults in the front panel:

Setup Menu > Network Menu > Restore Network Defaults > Yes

Now go ahead and re run the wireless setup wizard. What are the results? Is the OJ 8600 now connected to your wireless network?

Let me know the outcome. If this resolves the issue please let others know by marking this post as "Accept as Solution".  To simply say thanks, click the "Thumbs up" below!  🙂  If you require further assistance let me know and I will gladly do all I can to help.

Thanks for the reply. I restored the default setting, etc., and I'm still getting the same message that says password is invalid.

@prjacobs,

At this time I suggest contacting your Internet Service Provider (ISP), you may need to have your network password reset if your wireless devices are no longer able to connect.

Thank you for your persistence! Let me know if that helps.

I have attempted several times to connect and everytime i get, invalid password (WPA) when I am entering the correct one. I have reset my settings as stated.   I have contacted the IPS and they verified that is the correct password and tell me to contact you.   Is this your way of making us buy a new printer, set the software to expire at a certain time?????  sure feels fishy to me that my correct (all upper caps with numbers) passcode is verified by my IPS but yet the printer  tell me no.  Frustrated!!!!!!

In your router temporarily disable all security. Now try to connect the printer to your unsecured SSID. Are you successful? If yes go back and add WPA2-AES with a password and try again. Status now?

Actually read elsewhere someone sent you take it off WPA / WPA2 to WPA only. I checked mine and mine was set on WPA2 only and change the WPA only and connected and it works fine
