HP OfficeJet Pro X551dw
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I saw a 2018 post here that indicated there are airprint problems but no recent responses.  I set up airprint on my HP551dw. Tray 2 is the main tray and has plain paper in it.  Tray 1 is the small tray and has cardstock or plain paper in it.

If I tell it to print from my original iPhone SE with autoselect, it prints from tray 1 on whatever is in the tray (cardstock or plain) without designating the paper type and no complaints.

If I tell it to print but select tray 2 and plain paper, the printer tells me there is a paper mismatch and cancels the print.  Tried several paper types in airprint, always performs this action. Checked to make sure the printer is set to plain paper, and forced it to always select tray 2 as default (not autoselect).  No difference.

In other words, no matter what I do, the airprint will print to tray 1 but never to tray 2 with the excuse the paper is a mismatch when it isn't.

I have the latest firmware for the printer, the latest Windows 10 updates, and the latest iOS.

My Windows 10 is update to date as is my printer firmware.
