A few weeks ago I bought the Color LaserJet Pro MFP M476dn, because it had Airprint according the specs on the HP website. Printer works fine for several weeks and now I got my new iphone and want to install airprint on it.
I connected the printer with ethernet cable to my network. But when I want to connect to airprint, the manual says I should connect the printer to the same wifi network as the mobile device...
But this printer does not support wifi???

Sorry ... that is correct. Your printer does not support wireless. Not sure what told you it supports Airprint ..the "n" at the end of the model name is network... if it ends in w, those are wireless... MFP M476nw.

Above page on the HP website states 3 times that the printer supports Airprint... And on that information I made the choice of printer...

The document is not going to work "Air"print is a wireless technology. The support document does not need updated.
The HP marketing site in the Netherlands that is telling people the model supports wireless needs updated. Since you bought the printer and know it doesn't support wireless - you will it replaced with a model that does have wireless... if you want to use Airprint.

Thats rather dissapointing as I bought this printer in order that my wife could print with her iphone....
On the English page it also displays Airplay as one of its functions:

So now I have a printer what cant be used as promised....

I Can't believe the two supporters on this site actually work for HP!
If so fire them and let me replace them with this simple answer.
It says quite clearly in the manual that it needs to be hooked up to the same wired/wireless network.
So the gentleman is right. Indeed it supports airprint. Just as it supports "scanning to cloud" but it needs an internet connection for that as well to work.
Airprint needs a network to be able to support airprint in case the printer is not a M476dw wich has wireless on board already.
Not to worry though.
My guess is that you have an internetmodem already that provides a wireless access point.
Connect the printer to that modem via a network cable / other switch or AP and make sure your phone is connected via wireless to that Wifi and allowed to see other devices in the same network (usually the case if it's not connected to a guest wifi) and you should be fine in setting up airprint.
Good luck and enjoy your printer.
Just an IT nerd that's using HP hardware for the better part of my carreer voicing his own opinion
