Do not shake HP Ink Cartridges and Print Heads unless suggested by an HP technician or in any HP documents.
EXCEPTION: check the solution six section 5 for those using HP 940 ink cartridges and print heads:

I work for HP but my posts and replies are my own.
Have a good day !!!

It might be helpfult to mention why - shaking most inkjet cartridges and printheads may introduce air into the system, which may then cause colors out or other print defects.
In some cases it may also result on ink in undesired places, like desktops or carpeting.
I am not an employee of HP, I am a volunteer posting here on my own time.
