I have a Laserjet 1606dn that is connected via Ethernet to my router. I can print to it from a desktop that is also connected via Ethernet to the router. I'm trying to print from a laptop that is conneted over wifi to the router. From the laptop I can successfully see the webserver page on the printer. |'ve added the printer using the Windows 10 Settings / Add Device and it says it is Ready. When I try to print from the laptop it gets stuck in the print queue and says Attention Required with no explanation as to what is needed. I can still print from the desktop so I know the printer has paper and ink and is set to print. Bother desktop and laptop are on Windows 10 - 64bit.
The printer has the lastest firmware update from the HP support site.
How do I figure out what attention is needed or better yet how do I get this printer to print from my laptop?

Hi @aberdeen61,
Welcome to the HP Support Forums! I read your post and see that the printer isn't printing, from just the one computer over the network. Thank you for providing that detailed information. I will certainly do my best to help you. If this helps you to reach a solution, please click the "Accept as Solution" button down below in this message. If you wish to say thanks for my effort to help, click the " Thumbs Up " to give me a Kudos.
Check to see what port was assigned to the printer.
From Devices and Printers, right click your printer and left click Printer Properties.
Click on the Ports tab.
If the printer is selected on the WSD port, try and create a new port by clicking on the Add Port button. You might have one in the list for TCP/IP for your printer name, if you do just select it and Apply the Settings.
We have one more setting to check from the Ports tab, uncheck SNMP Status Enabled.
Then Click OK and Apply.
Try printing again from the Laptop.
If you are still having issues printing, download and run the Print and Scan Doctor, it will diagnose the issue and might automatically resolve it.
What were the results when you ran the Print and Scan Doctor? (did it print or scan, any error messages)
Please let me know the outcome. Have a nice day! Thank you.

Man, the amount of effort spent trying to get my printer (HP envy 7640) to start working again after replacing both ink cartridges you would not believe. Until I stumbled across your post which was so simple and worked SOOOOOO well, I am so thankfull for your post being accuret and right, if you could see me I would be bowing to you. Can't kudos enough, thanks. I knew it was simple, but I would never have found it on my own...

Well, I have an HP deskjet 4640 series, and for the last two days I faced exactly the same problem. Your solution as a contribution to my problem was unbelievable, as far as I' m thinking about the hours I spent trying to fix "my unsolved" problem. I just want to tell THANK YOU, and to say that here is the solution not only for the laserjet 1606dn, but probably for the most HP printers, including mine! Thanks again!
