Microsoft Windows 7 (64-bit)

Hi, having recently changed my broadband provider to BT they gave a a home hub 5. When I try to install it gets as far as the configuration bit then says it cant configure and stops.  I have tried changing the names of both broadband widths (2.4 and the 5ghz) But nothing.  I'm so frustrated that no one seems able to help and I seem to have wasted a lot of money on the HP printer.  Can anyone help please. I now can't use my printer as it's too far from the PC.

Hi @Milli36uk ,

I see that you are experiencing issues setting up the printer again over the wireless network on the new BT home hub 5.
I would really like to be able to help you resolve this issue.

I have provided some information that I hope is helpful in getting the printer recognized on the network.

Make sure there isn't any spaces or special characters in the network name, the printer may not recognize it.

The printer is only capable of sending/receiving in the 2.4 ghz band.

If it is set to 5 GHZ network you may need to change to 2.4 ghz. (rename the 5 ghz or shut it off)

The WPA key setting needs to be on AES to work correctly not TKIP.

Multi casting needs to be turned on.
Firewall on router has to have open ports for printer.
If you have Mac Filtering you need to give printer hardware address from Configuration page.

You might need to contact your router company for further assistance to check those settings.

You may have to restore the defaults on the printer.

I can provide you more information once I know which model you have. Part of the model number isn't listed.

How Do I Find My Model Number or Product Number?

If there is anything else I can help you with, just let me know.

Have a nice day!
Thank You.

Thanks for providing that information Milli36uk .

Most likely it is the settings on the new router. I would suggest to contact the router company and ask them to check the settings on the router which I provided on the previous post. I have provided some steps to try first if you like, just to rule out the old network defaults aren't still set on the printer causing the new network not to recognize the printer.

Restore the printer's network defaults.

  • Touch the Setup button. (wrench)
  • Select Network Setup Menu.
  • Then select Restore Defaults.

Print out a configuration report to make sure the IPv4 address is 0.0.0.0 and the SSID isn't listing your old network name. Go to the setup button (wrench) on the printer, right arrow to reports, select config report.

Run the install again.

If you are still having settings, I would check those settings on the router.

If you appreciate my efforts, please click the Thumbs up button below.

Thank You. I look forward to hearing from you.
