Product: Hp desktop D4260

Does this printer need more than one cartridge to print?

i only want to print in black only, do I have to buy more than one cartridge to work?

Hi,

The setup may vary from printer to printer but basically (for Windows):

(a) Double click printer icon on desktop,
(b) Click Set Preferences,
(c) Click Advanced,
(d) Select "Black Ink only" for Print in Grayscale
(e) Click Ok/Apply ...

Note: Printer still needs all color inks and it will consume a very small amount of inks during warmng up process.

HP Recommended

The printer can support Ink Backup Mode as shown on page 21 of the user manual here.  You can remove the color cartridge and print with only the black cartridge installed.
