Hello,
Does anyone know how I can remove the ']C1' prefix from the output of my scanned barcode. I believe the barcode is a EAN 128 code. I've done some research about disabling the code 128, tried what was suggested, but I think Im still not scanning the correct programming barcodes for this scanner. The output still comes out the same.
Any links to HP documents would be appreciated!
Im scanning barcode into notepad.
Out put comes out as ']C1753510475201'
I need it to be '753510475201'
Thanks!

Can you post an example of a typical barcode - preferably one with no personal or commercial data.
You can add an image (limited to certain file types, such as .png, .jpg, etc.) to a post, using the Insert/edit image button
Note that it may take a number of hours for any such images to be "approved" before they become visible to others.

The first three 'characters' of the bar-code, as highlighted here:
are:
- Start-C - this control character indicates that the bar-code should start using the 'subset C' encoding (which encodes pairs of digits).
- FNC1 - this function code "indicates that it begins with a 2- 3- or 4-digit application identifier assigned by the Uniform Code Council" - for example (according to Wikipedia), the U.S. ZIP code for the White House would generally be printed as "(421) 840 20500", but would actually be coded as "[Start C] [FNC1] 42 18 40 20 50 [Code A] 0 [Check symbol 92] [Stop]"
- 75 - this is the first digit pair.
So the problem is one of interpretation.
NotePad presumably knows nothing about the meaning of the non-graphic FNC1 control-code, so interprets it as best it can (as a graphical representation of a control code).

i.e. your bar-code is a special type of Code 128 bar-code, now (apparently) known as GS1-128 (previously known as UCC-128 or EAN-128 bar-codes).
So if you can program your scanner to interpret it as this type of bar-code, you may get a different output (possibly with parentheses around the Application Identifier digit(s).

I've only used a bar-code scanner a few times (and that was about 15 years ago), so I can't offer any advice based on experience.
I've found the following in a HP Wireless Barcode Scanner Programming Reference Guide manual:
If this is relevant to your scanner (I've no idea) then you may (again, i've no idea) be able to just program it to 'Disable Global AIM ID" .
if not, then that manual (if at all relevant to your scanner model) may still provide some pertinent advice.
