Hello

My printer will not print in color at all. I've cleaned set it to clean the print heads and to align itself (which it fails).

As I'm reading through these forum topics some people even tried ordering a new print head and it would still fail.

Has anyone come across a definitive solution?

Before I go trying to clean the print head myself I want to be sure I don't waste too much time or should I just order a new printhead and pray that it works.

All the cartridges are new and I've set it to clean the print heads several times.

Thanks in advance for anyone's help.

hello and thank you for the response.

I did find the link and instructions that were sent before I initially posted the message here. I was trying to avoid buying a new printhead but decided it would only be worth it since the old one seemed to far gone.

So, the new printhead is installed and it's still having the same issue. Only prints in black.  The alignment failed and the print quality diagnostic report prints only in black.

Can you please help me I don't know what needs to happen next in order for color ink to print.

It looks like you were interacting with @The_Fossette, but he's out for the day

And I'll be glad to help you out.

This could be basic but it's worth checking before we get into the details,

Have you ensured the printer settings isn't on grayscale printing alone?

Managed by application essentially turns off printer driver-based colour management. Selecting this option tells the printer that incoming colour is already color-managed, and the driver is not to do any colour conversions to the image data.

grayscale option is also available for printing black-and-white photos.

Figure : Managed by application and Grayscale options in Color Management window

Make sure you uncheck the grayscale option to print in colour again,

That said, If the issue persists, you may need to reset the printer to fix the issue,

Keep me posted,

If the information I've provided was helpful,

Give us some reinforcement by clicking the solution and kudos buttons,

That'll help us and others see that we've got the answers!

Good Luck.

Hello, @R2RO3

Thanks for the update! I would like to jump in with a suggestion 🙂

First off, we need to determine whether the is with the printer hardware or software. You can simply make a copy to check this. Place a color document face down on the scanner glass and press the copy option on the printer control panel. Let me know if it makes a good color copy or not.

If the color copy itself is coming in black, then the issue is with the printer hardware. I understand that you tried changing the print head, but still if possible try step 7 -9 here: http://hp.care/2keDTIs

If the issue persists, then I would recommend contacting the HP phone support to get the printer serviced / upgraded. You can visit http://www.support.hp.com/contact-hp and fill in your product details to get the tech support number.

Please let me know if this resolves the issue, or if you require further assistance!

Good luck 🙂

hello and thanks again for continuing to help me to resolve this issue. It appears that the solution was unsuccessful and I've tried all the option to get color to print.  Placing a color paper on the scanner to make a color copy did not work either.

As stated, I have a new printhead and followed steps 7-9.

Not sure what to do next?

Hello, @R2RO3

Thanks for the update & appreciate your efforts 🙂

It looks like a hardware issue with the printer. I would recommend contacting the HP phone support to get the repair / upgrade options for your printer.

You can visit http://www.support.hp.com/contact-hp and fill in your product details to get the tech support number.

(1) Once the support page opens please select the country in which you're located. Next, enter your HP model number on the right.

(2) Next, choose the 'Contact Support' tab at the top and scroll down to the bottom of the 'HP Support- Contact' page to fill out the form provided with your contact information.

(3) Once completed click the 'Show Options' icon on the bottom right.

(4) Lastly, scroll down to the bottom of the page and select 'Get phone number.' A case number and phone number will now populate for you.

If you have any troubles, let me know and I will do my best to help!

Cheers 🙂
