My C4280 printer has entered an "alignment page loop". It prints such a page every time something has to be printed and then the scanner fails to recognize it (the message appears on the printer LCD). This way, next time it requires a new alignment page.
Could this be caused by lack of colored ink, for instance? Could it be a faulty scanner or image recognition circuit? Corrupted internal memory?
Is there a way to bypass the alignment cycle so that this does not happen again?

Yes. Missing ink is one of the reasons why alignment fails. Make sure that the cartridges are not empty. You could take a look at the alignment page and check if you see all 4 colours. Follow THIS document to try and fix the issue.
There is a way to bypass the alignment until next cartridge change. Follow these steps:
Press the Power and Cancel button together. Now the screen should say 'Enter Special Key Combo'.
Now press the buttons Scan>Color Copy>Black copy one after the other. The display should say Support or Suport Menu.
Now keep pressing the Blue and Grey buttons until you find an option named Print Test Menu. Now press the Green button.
Now the display should say By Pass Pen Alignment. Press the Green button again and follow the instructions.
PS: Use this bypass procedure as a LAST RESORT and ONLY after you try all the steps in the document listed above.
