Mac OS X 10.10 Yosemite

Hi, I hadn't used the printer for a while, and wasnt sure it was set up right when I was using it. So I thought an uninstall and reinstall was a good idea. So I ran the HP Uninstall before checking the software was available to then download from HP.

I cant see there is any software to download on the HP site, yet my Mac says some is missing, understandably. All apple updates are loaded.

Any pointers on how I can source and reinstall what's needed. Dont have the original disk.

Thanks in anticipation,

Hi,

The printer software for Yosemite is available via Apple Software Update and no drivers should be installed.

Follow these steps to install your printer:

http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c04510394

If you experience any issues, do you try installing it via USB or wirelessly?

For a wireless connection - is the printer already connected to your wireless network or not? can you see the blue wireless light solid lit, blink or off?

Great stuff, thanks, I am further along the road in that I can print. FYI I am using the USB connection.

However when trying to scan using HP Photosmart Studio I get the error message "Sorry scanner could not be initialised (scanner not found)".

When I use the printer front panel buttons to try to scan to PC the printer screen says "Scan Error. Try scan from computer or see documentation".

The devices Printers and Scanners Options and Supplies button says I have driver version 5.0.5, which I have seen somewhere is the right set for printing and scanning.

So I am a bit stumped, thanks again btw.

Hi, got something to add:

I turned off the printer and reset the mac, then turned on the printer again. By chance I went into System Preferences, Printers and Scanners, hit Scan and then Open Scanner. The scanner window said the scanner was warming up and then did an initial scan. I was able to scan and save documents via that dialogue window.

But when i tried to do the same using HP Photosmart Studio and Device Manager, I got the above error message as before AND when I went back to Printers and Scanners, Open Scanner, the pop up dialogue window remained blank, no warming up message, no option to scan at all.

So I closed Photosmart Studio and Device Manager, turned the printer off and on again and I am back in the good place where I can scan using Printers and Scanners, hit Scan and then Open Scanner.

However I still cannot scan to PC from the printer front panel buttons.

So the troubles seem to be connected to HP Photosmart Studio and Device Manager ? They don't work themselves and if I try them they foul up the one method of scanning that does work ie System Preferences, Printers and Scanners, hit Scan and then Open Scanner.

Hope this helps, and thanks again.
