I seem to have a problem scanning which I didn't have before. I don't understand the error message.
I tried just installing new software from the HP website as I don't have the original disc anymore. I seem to now have a wireless connection which is a bonus (gave up on that before but obviously new software mended that fix) however I still can't scan and I have an urgent document to send tonight.
I double checked I had downloaded Full Software (it confirmed I had)
This is the error message I get.
Please advise what I can do in very simple terms. I am not an I.T expert and find a lot of these things hard to understand or follow.
c:\Program Files (x86)\HP\Digital Imaging\bin\hpqtsshctui.dll is either not designed to run on windows or it contains an error. Try installing the program again using the original installation media or contact your system administrator
- it worked on windows before (just stopped working)
- where would it get an error from?!
- I have reinstalled software it doesn't fix the problem
- I am trying to scan from the HP solutions 'Home' screen
Please can someone help?!
Seems a lot of people suddenly have a scanner issue, what is causing this for everyone?

Hi,
Step 1: Uninstall your printer from Programs and Features
- If your printer connects to the computer with a USB cable, disconnect the cable from the printer.
- Search Windows for programs and features, and then click Programs and Features in the list of results.
- In the list of installed programs, click your HP printer name, and then click Uninstall or Yes.
- If a User Account Control message displays, click Yes.
- Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the software removal. If the software uninstall process does not start or an error displays while uninstalling, download Fix problems that block programs from being installed or removed (in English) from the Microsoft website, and then try uninstalling again.
- After the software uninstall is complete, restart the computer.
- Make sure the printer is turned on and in a ready state.
- If your printer connects to the computer with a USB cable, disconnect the cable from the printer.
- Search Windows for devices, then click Devices and Printers in the list of results.
- Right-click the icon for your printer
, click Remove Device, then follow the on-screen instructions to complete the printer removal.
If multiple icons exist for your printer, remove them all.
Step 3: Remove from Print server Properties:-
Watch this youtube video from 58 second it shows how to remove printer from print server properties.
Step 4: Remove files from temp and prefetch
Go to RUN ,
Type in %temp%
You will see temp folder
Select All files and delete ( some files may do not delete , you can skip )
Go to RUN
Type in prefetch
you will see prefetch folder
select all files and delete ( some files may do not delete, you can skip )
Restart your PC now and try installing the software.
To simply say thanks, please click the "Thumbs Up" button to give me a Kudos to appreciate my efforts to help.
If this helps, please mark this as “Accepted Solution” as it will help several others with the same issue to get it resolved without hassles.
Take care now and have a splendid week ahead.

Step 3 - which YouTube video?
Step 4 - what do you mean by go to RUN, where is RUN?
And how do you know all files in this folder need to be deleted? What if it deletes something not relating to the issue?

Hi
Sorry forgot to paste the link .. My bad
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DRlx0arzY2s
Files your deleting from TEMP folder
These files are typically located in the standard temporary directory, /tmp on Unix machines or %TEMP% (which is log-in specific) on Windows machines. Atemporary file created with tmpfile is deleted automatically when the program exits or the file is closed.
Files your deleting from PREFETCH
The next time you turn on your computer, Windows refers to these files to help speed the start process. The prefetch folder is a subfolder of the Windows system folder.
You can skip this if not willing to perform the steps.
