PLEASE READ CAREFULLY/TWICE -- I SPENT A LOT OF TIME WRITING IT TO BE CLEAR/COMPLETE. THANKS.
I was using the CM1415fnw for more than a year without a problem (printing/scanning/copying/faxing). It's on the network wired, and have been using from various network PCs, running XP, W7 and a Macbook.
Everything still works except scanning. The scan utility opens normally. When I click scan, the "preparing to scan" window comes up normally. But then there's no movement/light from the scanhead, and a blank/no image comes up in the preview.
As I said, everything else works, including copying both from the flatbed and feeder. Nothing else has changed on the network, except that I installed a second HP mfn on the network recently, but haven't installed it on the PCs that are having trouble with the CM1415.
I've already installed the latest firmware and uninstalled/reinstalled all software/drivers, and rebooted both the PC and the printer.
Thanks.

Hello SJS58,
Welcome to the HP Forums! I understand your concerns with your Laserjet CM1415fnw.
Are you experiencing this scanning issue from all of your computer(s) or just one computer? I will provide a couple of steps to try, as this will help narrow down the issue.
I want you to test out the printers software on your computer. Please try connecting this printer with a USB cable, then try to scan a document. Let me know if you are having the same issue.
Also, try The Print and Scan Doctor. This utility could fix or explain why you are experiencing this scanning issue.
If the USB cable didn't work, then we would test out the hardware on your printer. I understand you are able to copy a document, but we are trying to resolve your scanning issue.
Please make sure this printer is plugged into a direct wall, not a surge protector, then try Resetting the Printer.
Let me know how your progress goes.

Did you ever get the issue resolved?
I notice that you were offered the same "solutions" as everyone else.
The problem was with only one of my PCs, so I simply soldiered on. Now my wife's PC has the same problem.
It definitely seems related to network issues.
What did you do?
