I've misplaced the HP USB WIFI dongle/adapter (HP Q6274A)  to my H470 mobile printer and was wondering if another (Non HP) usb wifi adapter/dongle will work...until I find my original HP Q6274A dongle?  Incidentally, I happened to notice Non-HP WiFi USB adapter/dongles are every where, they are very inexpensive and also offer the latest WiFi technology enhancements, ie: b/g/n & 300 Mbp/s, etc.  I'm hopeful HP customer support will offer a few suggestions regarding other compatible H470 WiFi dongles... however, I doubt they'll suggest anything other than their hard to find/obsolete HP Q6274A ... any thoughts would be greatly appreciated 😃

Hi xxwildbilxx,

Are you still experiencing issues?  The adaptors may or may not work.  If you have a spare, it is certainly worth a try, however I cannot guarantee compatibility. The specific adaptor for this model is readily available through online ordering systems.  You can also contact HP technical support to compare best pricing options for these adaptors.  Global contact information can be accessed Here.

Hope this helps!

Appreciate the help... I was also wondering if a (non HP) aftermarket Bluetooth adaptor/dongle will work (until my USB HP WiFi adaptor/dongle turns up)? The H470 manual shows a Bluetooth option though the Bluetooth doesn't allow some features to work (go figure)... maybe HP support will chime in 😃

Hi xxwildbillxx,

Thanks for the response.  The compatibility with the blue tooth adaptor will be similar to the WiFi adaptor.  These printers are specifically designed to work with HP adaptors.  Due to the printer's age it is likely the newest technology would not be compatiable, however there is a chance it could work.  Many aftermarket adaptors on the market are specifically designed for use in computers rather than printers.  Please see the below avenues that may provide a reasonable work around until the original adaptor is located.

Possible work arounds:

1. Connect the device USB

     A.  This will be the least expensive and most reliable form of connection options

2. Purchase an HP bluetooth adaptor

     A.  Please click Here and Here

     B.  The above links provide the least expensive prices I could find. Note: the links provided are 3rd party vendors, HP and I are not responsible for content, policies or procedures associated with these sites.

3. Purchase an HP wireless adaptor

     A.  To proceed with this option, I would consider the cost versus device usage.  The cost of this type of adaptor can highly outweigh the cost of an upgraded model.  However upgraded versions of this model do not support Wifi connectivity, instead only bluetooth and USB connectivity are supported.

     B.  Since this unit has reached end of life support (hardware), I strongly encourage the use of one of the previous connection options.

Hope this helps!
